A New Mindset to Walk By Faith
In our lives most of us are hoping for the same things. No matter what country people are from or their culture some of the common things that most people look for are joy, peace, fulfillment, answers, healing, financial stability to name a few.. The difference is some people look in different places for these things.
As Christians we do understand where things like our peace and joy comes from but sometimes we find ourselves operating like the world to obtain and maintain some of these things. Sometimes we put more faith in our job, spouse, children, pastor, and the world's governmental system than we do God. What is the problem with walking by sight and trusting in something other than God? When we walk by sight we are relying on what is seen, felt, or perceived through the senses.
Therein lies the problem because many times what we see, feel and perceive in any given situation is funneled through things such as our life's experiences, our upbringing, values, beliefs and perceptions. This is why the choices and decisions of people who are in the same situation can vary.
Hebrews 11: 1
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
When we walk by sight ultimately the result may not be God’s best for us. And many times because our decisions are based on what we are “sensing” we might be heading in the wrong direction.
Keys to helpful ways of getting to a place where we can trust God and walk by faith.
Move away from operating based on our senses and work towards having a new perspective based on how God says we should operate. This comes by spending quality time with God through prayer, meditation, reading the word of God, and being in environments that foster spiritual growth.
Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
2. Catch the enemy at the door, deal with him right there, and don't let him in.
2 Corinthians 1: 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
What thoughts are you having that do not foster something positive, or are troublesome? We have to learn how to replace those thoughts with what God says in His word. Remember, our battle is not against flesh and blood. (Eph 6:12)Therefore, our own thoughts really don’t have the power to cause change for the better.
3. Take your understanding of your situation and circumstance and turn it over to the Lord.
Proverbs 3: 5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit (acknowledge him) to him and he will make your paths straight.
Most of the time we know what choices are the best choices to make that would be pleasing to God but we don’t always make that choice. We should ask God for strength to be able to make choices that lead to the outcome He desires. The good news is that God will exceed our expectations. (Eph 3:20)
4. Acknowledge God in our daily walk. (Prov 3:6)
Acknowledge means to recognize, accept, admit, confirm, or grant. When we are going through our day we should make sure that in whatever we are doing we are acknowledging God at the same time. For example it is difficult to truly acknowledge God and curse someone out in anger at the same time.
It is time to press our way to operate in a way that guarantees our victories, and create a path for God’s plans for our life to come to pass.
