Produce Perseverance for Your Victory
The definition perseverance is persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.
Athletes are a great example of why perseverance is important. Without persevering an athlete will not develop enough so that they can win against their competition.
Perseverance develops necessary skills to win including building discipline and mental toughness, the ability to overcome set backs, resilience and growth, pushing beyond expectation, teamwork and cooperation, individual endurance, courage and bravery.
While it is great to understand what persevering develops its also important to know that if we do not persevere we will not develop in the areas that we need to. That being said the opposite happens; we will lack discipline and mental toughness, we will lack the ability to overcome a set back, we will not be able to weather storms, we won’t grow, we will become complacent, we won’t be able to work with others, and we become timid and afraid.
James 1:3
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
Keep Pressing
Stay on Track and Don’t Doubt
Use Wisdom
Gain Knowledge
Good Judgement
Pressing our way through situations is a must and very essential.
We cannot afford to give up on anything unless you heard the holy spirit saying let go and move on. The enemy is hoping that we back down in situations where God has your back so that you can win.
Wisdom is essential because wisdom is the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement. Opportunities to persevere and overcome (which you will) allows you to have an “experience” that you would not have been able to get if you didn’t persevere. Our past accomplishments energizes us for what we may have to face in the future.
Using the knowledge of what you learned as you go through something elevates you in life.
Good judgement keeps you from going backwards and repeating the same mistakes over and over.
James 1:6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
We cannot experience a “win” if we are doubting. Doubting is like putting one bad apple with a good apple. The good apple is going to go bad. This is why once we make up our minds to fight for our peace, our joy, and all that God has for us we have to persevere and not give up.
